What should I wear for a sea kayaking tour?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting wet, as well as a hat and sunglasses to protect you from the sun. It's also a good idea to bring a change of clothes for after the tour.

What should I bring on my sea kayaking tour?

Accepted Answer

We recommend that you bring a bottle of water and a light snack. Like most other physical activities, it is important to stay hydrated and energised whilst kayaking. Please note that Sea Kayaking Sagres does not provide food and drinks on the tours.

We also recommend that you apply sunscreen. The sun can be strong out on the water - even on overcast days.

Do I need prior kayaking experience to join a tour?

Accepted Answer

No, prior kayaking experience is not necessary for most of our tours.

Our experienced guides will provide all the necessary instruction and safety briefings before setting out on the water.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the tour?

Accepted Answer

If the weather and/or prevailing sea conditions are not suitable for kayaking, we may cancel the tour or work with you to find a suitable alternative date.

Your safety is our top priority and we will only proceed with the tour if conditions are safe.

Our kayaks are sit-inside kayaks which are manufactured in Europe to very high standards. 
 
Regarding the advantages of such a kayak design; sit-inside sea kayaks shelter your lower body from the wind, which makes them much warmer. Furthermore, this design is great for paddlers who'll be on cooler water and who want to stay dry while paddling. Ultimately, kayakers consider sit-inside designs more than a vehicle for travel than a toy.’
